Chico State Preview
All-time vs. CSUC: 4-0 (1.000)
Last time vs. CSUC: W, 8-0 (5 inn.) (Feb. 1, 2014); The Cougars run-ruled the Wildcats in the opening game of the 2014 Best of the West Invitational in Turlock two years ago.
Melyssa Bellamy went 2-for-3, scored twice and had a stolen base while
Caylyn Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
CSUC Breakdown: The Wildcats took three of four against nationally-ranked UC San Diego in La Jolla last weekend, outscoring the Tritons 10-4 in the process. Desiree Gonzalez took home CCAA Player of the Week honors after hitting .462 (6-for-13) with six RBI.
Cougars Swept by Humboldt StateThe Cougars were swept for the second consecutive weekend, this time at the hands of HSU. The fourth-ranked Jacks shut-out the Cougars in the first three games before using a four-run sixth inning for a come-from-behind victory in the series finale.
Holly Fauria batted .545 (6-for-11) and extended her hitting streak to four games. Bellamy batted .464 (4-for-11) with a triple and an RBI.

Laurie Nevarez is in her third season at the helm of the Cougars in 2016. Hired in 2014, Nevarez has put together a 77-41-1 (.651) record in her first two years while mentoring 13 all-conference selections. Over her 12-year head coaching career, Nevarez has put together a 396-157-2 (.715) overall record. Prior to her time at CSUSM, Nevarez coached NCAA Division III Redlands for 10 seasons.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015-16. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2016 and 2017.
