Last time vs. CSUMB: W, 8-0 (Feb. 2, 2014); The Cougars run-ruled the Otters in the 2014 Best of the West Invitational in Turlock en route to a tournament title.
Katie Wilkinson threw a six-inning, three-hit shutout and
Tani Leasau had a three-run double.
Melyssa Bellamy was 2-for-4 in the game, and
Caylyn Rodriguez had a hit, as well.
CSUMB Breakdown: The Otters are 2-4 over their last eight games. Last weekend's series against Cal State East Bay was postponed due to the rain that soaked all of Northern California. Courtney Varela leads the Otters with a .385 batting average through the first 21 games.
Cougars' SkidThe Cougars have dropped 11 straight games since their last victory on Feb. 13 against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The streak is the longest in program history, breaking the previous mark of 10 set back in 2007.

Laurie Nevarez is in her third season at the helm of the Cougars in 2016. Hired in 2014, Nevarez has put together a 77-43-1 (.640) record in her first two years while mentoring 13 all-conference selections. Over her 12-year head coaching career, Nevarez has put together a 396-159-2 (.713) overall record. Prior to her time at CSUSM, Nevarez coached NCAA Division III Redlands for 10 seasons.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015-16. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2016 and 2017.
