OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball dropped an 86-71 decision to CCAA leader Cal State Dominguez Hills in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action on Thursday night at Mira Costa College.
The Cougars had their best performance at the free throw line this season, shooting 84.2 percent (16-of-19) but the Toros kept pace as they shot 80.8 percent (21-of-26).
CSUSM falls to 5-12 overall and 3-10 in CCAA play while the Toros improve to 16-7, 14-1 in conference action.

Savannah Camp led all scorers with 22 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Junior
Ashley Ontiveros added 16 points while classmate
Ashley Jenkins chipped in 14 points, seven assists and four steals.
Brianna Higgins collected a team-best 10 rebounds.
The Toros closed out the first half with a 24-0 run to take a 54-28 lead into the break. After outscoring CSUDH 24-14 in the third frame, CSUSM got within 10 (81-71) with 1:37 remaining in the game. But the Toros clinched the win with a 3-pointer by Ali Bettencourt followed by a bucket by Breanne Garcia.
Imari Brown came off the bench to lead CSUDH with 20 points. Breanne Garcia and Monay Lee each added 15 points.
CSUSM hosts Cal State L.A. on Saturday, Feb. 6 at MiraCosta College. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
