Cal State Dominguez Hills Preview

Naomi Amu hit a grand slam in game two in the sweep.
Melyssa Bellamy went 3-for-6 and
Caylyn Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with two runs and the go-ahead RBI in the second game.
CSUDH Breakdown: CSUDH, picked to finish ninth in the 2016 CCAA Softball Preseason Coaches' Poll, went 3-2 last weekend at The Desert Stinger Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. Analisa Nicholson batted .471 during the tournament, one of six Toros with a batting average higher than .400 at this point of the season. Pitcher Jamie Duran is 2-1 with a 1.65 ERA.
The StreakAfter dropping four games last week, the Cougars' losing streak has reached six games, their second-longest skid in program history. CSUSM previously lost 10 straight from Feb. 3-23, 2007.
The Nevarez FileHead coach
Laurie Nevarez is in her third season at the helm of the Cougars in 2016. Hired in 2014, Nevarez has put together a 75-31-1 (.706) record in her first two years while mentoring 13 all-conference selections. Over her 12-year head coaching career, Nevarez has put together a 394-147-2 (.727) overall record. Prior to her time at CSUSM, Nevarez coached NCAA Division III Redlands for 10 seasons.
New TerritoryAfter nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015-16. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2016 and 2017.
