SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team hosts Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday, Nov. 30, for its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) home opener and Chico State on Saturday, Dec. 3 for Homecoming. Both games are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. or 20 minutes following the women's contest that starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday's game against Chico State is Homecoming for CSUSM. THE COUGARS AT A GLANCE
- The Cougars went 1-1 last week.
- CSUSM cruised past San Diego Christian 104-69 as five Cougars scored in double digits. Senior guard Tyson Kygar led CSUSM with a game- and career-high 24 points going 7-for-9 from behind the arc. Junior guard Ethan Alvano, senior guard Novian Cherry, junior guard Brian Wright and senior guard Dayton Boddie contributed 15, 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.
- The Cougars dropped their conference-opener to Humboldt State on the road, 89-78. A Nick Pallas layup gave CSUSM a five-point lead, 61-56, with 10:17 remaining, but the Lumberjacks outscored the Cougars 32-17 the rest of the way to account for the final score.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
- The Cougars are 2-0 in their brand new home, The Sports Center.
- CSUSM was 47-9 (.839) from 2011-16 when the Cougars called MiraCosta College "home".
CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO BREAKDOWN
- CSUSB is 3-1 this season. The Coyotes are on a three-game winning streak with wins over Concordia (Ore.), Academy of Art and Saint Martin's.
- CSUSB has four players averaging double-digit scoring in Khleem Perkins (16.3), Phil Reed (12.3), Blake McBride (10.8) and Dorian Butler (10.8).
- The Coyotes are led by 15th year head coach Jeff Oliver.
- CSUSM defeated CSUSB, 86-80 at home last season, in the only contest between the two teams.
CHICO STATE BREAKDOWN
- Chico State is 6-1 this season. Its only loss was a 59-58 loss to Biola and have since won five consecutive.
- Isaiah Ellis and Corey Silverstrom lead the Wildcats in scoring, averaging 14.0 and 12.3 points per game, respectively. Robert Duncan, the 2015-16 CCAA Most Valuable Player, is putting up 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 steals per contest.
- Chico State head coach Greg Clink is in his ninth year at the helm.
- The Cougars are 0-2 all-time against the Wildcats. CSUSM suffered a narrow 83-82 loss in Chico on a half-court buzzer beater from Jalen McFerren in 2015-16. Later in the year, the Wildcats defeated the Cougars 83-73 at MiraCosta.

B.J. Foster was named interim head men's basketball coach in the summer of 2016 after three years as the head assistant (2013-16). Foster is 4-2 in his career as a interim head coach.
