SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team collected its first victory over defending California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) regular season champion Sonoma State in program history on Friday night at The Sports Center. Final scores were 25-17, 14-25, 25-22 and 25-14.
The Cougars improve to 10-5 overall and 3-3 in CCAA action while the Seawolves fall to 5-8, 3-3 in conference play.
"Tonight's win was significant for us in two ways," said head coach
Andrea Leonard. "We were able to bounce back after a loss on the road and execute our game plan to beat a very good program in Sonoma State. The second thing was our persistence and ability to stay confident in the moment."
