OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team dropped a 57-50 decision to Cal State East Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play on Thursday night at MiraCosta College.
The Cougars fall to 3-7 overall and 2-5 in conference action. The Pioneers recorded their 10th consecutive win, improving to 12-2 and 6-0 in CCAA.
For the second consecutive game, junior
Ashley Jenkins led the Cougar offense after tallying 17 points. She also registered seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in her 37 minutes. Sophomore
Savannah Camp tallied 15 points with 10 coming in the first half. Senior
Brianna Higgins pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
The Cougars held a 13-11 lead over the Pioneers after the first quarter. CSUEB opened the second frame with back-to-back layups to retake the lead and would not relinquish it the rest of the game.
CSUEB's Shannon Bland led all scorers with 25 points.
The Cougars host Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 9 at MiraCosta College. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
