SEASIDE, Calif. – Sophomore
Savannah Camp led the Cougars with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but it would not be enough as the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team fell 63-58 to Cal State Monterey Bay in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play at the Kelp Bed.
The Cougars out scored CSUMB in the final two frames but a 32-25 first half lead by the Otters was too much to overcome for CSUSM.
CSUSM drops to 5-12 overall and 3-9 in CCAA play. The Otters improve to 8-12, 4-9 in conference.
Playing the entire 40 minutes, Camp collected her fourth double-double of the season. Junior
Ashley Jenkins chipped in 14 points and five rebounds.
The Cougars finished with nine 3-pointers, just missing their fourth double-digit performance from beyond the arc of the season. The Otters controlled the boards, outrebounding CSUSM 30 to 19. The Otters controlled the boards, outrebounding CSUSM 30 to 19.
Mykayla Harris and McKenna Hill registered 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Otters.
The Cougars return home to host conference leader Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday, Feb. 4 at MiraCosta College. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
