RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team racked up four home runs while combining for 28 runs and 25 hits in a doubleheader sweep at La Sierra Sunday afternoon.  The Cougars took game one, 19-6, before finishing the day with a 9-0 victory in game two.

The Cougars improve to 21-9 on the season while the Golden Eagles drop to 6-27.

Senior Kory Smith went long for the first time this season in the twinbill opener and did it again in the second game. Junior Stefan Miladinovich notched his sixth homer of the season in the first game and junior Jon Putnam collected his second home run of 2015 in the nightcap.

Junior Emilio Esquibel (7-0) earned the win over La Sierra in the first game despite giving up a season-high 10 hits.  Junior Manny Barragan (4-2) collected game two's win after tossing five shutout innings and allowing only two hits.

The Cougars host No. 18 Concordia on Wednesday, March 25 at  CSUSM Baseball Field. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.

Game 1
CSUSM put together seven singles to score seven runs in the second inning.  In the next frame, senior Ray Patchen hit a bases clearing triple and would score to make it 11-0 CSUSM.

After scoring a single run in the third, LSU put together a 2-out rally by scoring four runs on five hits in the fifth inning to cut CSUSM lead to 11-5. The Cougars responded in their next at-bat by scoring six runs. After two walks and a hit-by-pitch, freshman Austin Ott crushed a 2-RBI double to deep center. Junior L.A. Gamo followed with a RBI single to extend CSUSM's lead to 14-5.  Miladinovich took the first pitch deep over the left field wall for a three-run homer.

After a sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Clinton Perez in the eighth, CSUSM's final run came off Smith's bat when he sailed the ball over the left field fence.

LSU's scored one more run in its final at-bat on a CSUSM error.

Game 2
Gamo led off the nightcap with a triple to deep left center and eventually scored on a groundout to put CSUSM up 1-0 after a half inning.

Putnam and Smith were both pelted by a pitch to lead off the second frame. A sacrifice bunt by freshman Tyler Place plated Putnam and Smith scored on Gamo's double to right. CSUSM's final run of the inning came on Miladinovich's RBI single to shallow left center field.

Miladinovich scored on a dropped third strike in the fifth inning and Putnam homered on 3-2 count to lead off the sixth.

In the seventh inning, Patchen reached base on a dropped ball in center field and scored on another LSU error that put pinch hitter Jack Garcia on first base.  Smith hit his second home run of the day, a two-run blast over the right center wall to end CSUSM's scoring at 9-0.
