SDCC Breakdown: The Hawks suffered a three-game series sweep by the Westmont Warriors this past weekend.  After dropping the first two games 9-3 and 11-4, a SDCC's rally in the series finale came up short as the Hawks fell 3-2.  Stephen Haviar is batting a team-best .350 with seven hits including three doubles.

Opening Day Long Ball
Senior Stefan Miladinovich became the third Cougar in CSUSM baseball program history to hit a home run on Opening Day. In the program's inaugural game, Terry Mortiz led off the second inning with a home run on Jan. 24, 2007. Johnny Omahen homered in the 8-7 victory over Vanguard on Jan. 28, 2011.

Notes
Denny Vigo went 5-for-8 with a double in the three games he has played … Tyler Place is off to a stellar start in his freshman campaign, accumulating a team-leading eight hits (four doubles) in the first five games … Brandon Bentson and Stefan Miladinovich has reached base safely in each of the first five games of 2015.

The Coaching Staff
Head Coach Dennis Pugh enters his ninth season at the helm since building the program from the ground up starting in 2007. He holds a 193-124-2 (.608) all-time record and has led the Cougars to the postseason for five consecutive years. Pitching coach Pat Hause, who guided Cougar pitchers to the 22nd-lowest ERA in the nation in 2014 (3.25), is back for his nine year, as well. Art Warren and Mark Wilson are back for their fifth and fourth seasons, respectively. Rick Lepire is the lone newcomer to this year's staff.
