SAN DIEGO – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team had a tough day on Saturday, dropping both games of a doubleheader to Point Loma at Carroll B. Land Stadium. The Sea Lions claimed game one by a 9-2 score before defeating the Cougars 4-3 in the scheduled 7-inning second game that went 10 innings.

Stefan Miladinovich each had four hits on the day.
The doubleheader consisted of 41 hits and 16 errors over 19 innings.
The Cougars (12-8) return home Sunday, March 1 to host Corban (Ore.) at 1 p.m.
Game 1After falling behind 3-0 after two innings, the Cougars rallied back twice with runs in the fourth and eighth innings but a four-run performance in Sea Lions' final at-bat put the game out of reach at 9-2.

Dylan Costello led the way with a 4-for-4 performance, tallying a stolen base, a run and a RBI.

Manny Barragan (1-2) picked up the loss, going six innings, allowing seven hits, four runs – three earned – one walk and striking out five. Kellen Sheppard earned the win for the Sea Lions after an eight-inning performance. He allowed 10 hits, two runs – one earned – and walked two.
Game 2The nightcap was a true back and forth affair with each team fighting to be on top.
The Cougars took advantage of two PLNU errors to take a 1-0 lead after junior
L.A. Gamo leadoff the game with a single. The Sea Lions evened the score on Devin Carter's leadoff home run in the bottom of the second.
CSUSM once again took the lead in the in the next frame after three consecutive singles to load the bases. Senior
Denny Vigo grounded into a double play but Miladinovich was able to cross the plate on the play.
The Sea Lions took their first lead of the game, scoring two runs on two hits and two CSUSM errors.
The Cougars were able to get into scoring position each of the next four innings including two bases loaded-one out situations but were unable to push the run across.

Kyle Montiel struck out the first two batters before walking and hitting the next two batters. After an intentional walk, the Sea Lions scored the winning run on a CSUSM fielding error.
Montiel drops to 1-2 on the year after striking out four batters. Miladinovich led the CSUSM offense, going 4-for-6 while Bentson and freshman
Austin Ott each added two hits.
