UAV Breakdown: After starting the season at 1-6, the Pioneers have turned the corner with a 5-1 record that included a three-game series sweep over Oregon Tech Feb. 7-8.
Grace PreviewAll-time record vs. GU: First meeting
GU Breakdown: The Grace University Royals baseball team took the field for the first time in program history in 2014, finishing with a 26-18 record while competing as a in the NCCAA. The Royals embark on a 11 game-eight day California trip beginning with a three-game stint at CSUSM. Grace opens the season against the Cougars on Saturday morning and faces Antelope Valley as game two of the 7-inning tripleheader scheduled. After a single nine-inning game on Sunday, the Royals head south to San Diego Christian.

Stefan Miladinovich led the Cougars with four hits that included two doubles and crossed the plate four times. Senior
Ray Patchen went 3-for-5 on the day with two runs and 2 RBIs along with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.
Opening Day Long BallSenior
Stefan Miladinovich became the third Cougar in CSUSM baseball program history to hit a home run on Opening Day. In the program's inaugural game, Terry Mortiz led off the second inning with a home run on Jan. 24, 2007. Johnny Omahen homered in the 8-7 victory over Vanguard on Jan. 28, 2011.
The Coaching Staff Head Coach
Dennis Pugh enters his ninth season at the helm since building the program from the ground up starting in 2007. He holds a 193-124-2 (.608) all-time record and has led the Cougars to the postseason for five consecutive years. Pitching coach
Pat Hause, who guided Cougar pitchers to the 22nd-lowest ERA in the nation in 2014 (3.25), is back for his nine year, as well. Art Warren and Mark Wilson are back for their fifth and fourth seasons, respectively. Rick Lepire is the lone newcomer to this year's staff.
Who We AreCSUSM is an NAIA Division I institution which competes in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference. CSUSM was accepted into NCAA Division II Candidacy Year One and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the summer and is currently going through a three-year transition phase in order to gain full NCAA DII status for the 2017-18 season. The 2014-15 season will be the school's final year in the NAIA.
