Huge Weekend for CSUSM
CSUSM has extended its winning streak to seven games after a stellar weekend at the 6th-annual Desert Stinger Classic in Las Vegas. The Cougars took home the tournament title, finishing the all-NCAA Division II competition a perfect 5-0. Naomi Amu was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after batting .688 (11-for-16) and leading the tournament in home runs (4), RBI (16) and total bases (24). Amu also took home A.I.I. Athlete of the Week. Four players hit .600 during the competition and the Cougar pitching staff posted a 2.33 ERA while allowing just 10 earned runs. Katie Wilkinson was also named all-tournament after posting a 3-0 record and 1.00 ERA.

Base-hits
Caylyn Rodriguez and Devin Vanderhoff hit .667 at the tournament … Rodriguez had eight RBI and eight hits … Melyssa Bellamy batted .647 and tied Amu for a team-high with 11 hits … Brogan Hoenisch tallied five RBI and scored five times … Ashley Dagenais went 2-0 in the circle … Three out of the last four A.I.I. Female Athletes of the Week have been CSUSM softball players … CSUSM also swept the 2014 Best of the West Invite, which also consisted of solely NCAA DII teams.

Hope International Preview
HIU enters Tuesday's contest 6-8 overall, having lost four of its last five contests. Jenifer Scantlen leads the Royals with a .412 average and Chelsie Keller comes in with a  team-high 12 RBI on the season. The two teams have not played any common opponents this year. CSUSM has won five games in a row over HIU.

All-time vs. HIU: 29-7.

Last meeting: W, 5-1; W, 9-1 (April 11, 2014); CSUSM extended its winning streak to 18 games during its last doubleheader against the Royals. Alex Miller drove in five runs and surpassed Alyssa Dronenburg as CSUSM's career leader in hits.

Adelphi Preview
Friday's clash will be the first between Adelphi and CSUSM. Adelphi is a NCAA Division II program located in Garden City, N.Y., which competes in the Northeast-10 conference. The Panthers are currently on a Southern California tour that will take them to UC San Diego, Azusa Pacific, Cal State San Bernardino, CSUSM and Cal Baptist. It was 19-degrees in Garden City, N.Y. on Monday; it was 70-degrees in San Marcos. Adelphi's first contest of the season is Monday at UCSD.

San Diego Christian Preview
SDCC opened the season with seven consecutive wins, but has split its last four games. They've beaten two ranked teams, including No. 21 College of Idaho and No. 15 Concordia (Ore.). CSUSM has never lost to SDCC.

All-time vs. SDCC: 4-0

Last meeting: W 4-3, W 4-3 (Apr. 8, 2014); The teams battled closely in the first game, with the Cougars scoring twice late in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Hawks refused to back down, cutting the lead to 4-3 and loading the bases before Wilkinson induced a comebacker to end the game. In the second game, it looked like San Diego Christian was going to be the first team to knock off the Cougars at home and end the second longest win streak in CSUSM history when the Hawks' Morgan McGee lined a two-run double to left center with two outs in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. However, Tani Leasau flipped the script with a no-doubt walk-off home run down the left field line that sent the Cougar dugout rushing onto the field.
