ESPANOLA, N.M. – Senior Cassie Damyanovich finished with a game-high 24 points and the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team cruised to a 64-49 victory over Northern New Mexico in the final game of the NNMC Classic on Sunday afternoon.
 
Damyanovich went 9-of-13 from the field and hit six of her ten 3-point attempts to lift the Cougars to 11-14 on the season.  NNMC dropped to 12-16.
 
Senior Heather Thompson registered 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Senior Mackenzie Harnett dished out six assists on top of her six rebounds.
 
The Cougars led by 12 points 12 minutes into the contest.  The Eagles closed the gap to two points with just over a minute and half to play, but CSUSM took a 30-25 lead into halftime.
 
In the second half, CSUSM outscored NNMC 24-12 in the first 13 minutes and shot 56.0 percent from the field.
 
CSUSM outrebounded the Eagles, 35-26.
 
The Cougars host NCAA Division II Point Loma on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at MiraCosta College. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
