OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team dropped a 79-62 decision to Point Loma at MiraCosta College on Wednesday night.
The Cougars fall to 11-15 overall and PLNU, a NCAA Division II institution which competes in the PacWest Conference, improved to 16-10.
Senior
Cassie Damyanovich led the Cougars with 23 points, while junior
Brianna Higgins chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Senior
Kimberly Kipp recorded a team-high seven boards. Senior
Alex Alvarado dished out a game-high six assists.
CSUSM shot 59.1 percent from the field in the first half and outrebounded the Sea Lions 16-7. Higgins rebounded senior
Mackenzie Harnett's missed layup and scored as the buzzer sounded to end the first half, knotting the game at 32-32.
The Sea Lions opened the second half with a 14-0 sprint and never looked back. PLNU improved on its first half shooting, making 16-of-27 (59.3) in the final 20 minutes.
Three Sea Lions recorded double-digits with Madison West leading the way with 21 points.
CSUSM plays its final home games of the 2014-15 season on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when they host San Diego Christian at 4 p.m.
