OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team took down Sonoma State, 73-61, to record its first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) victory in program history on CSUSM's Homecoming Night on Saturday at MiraCosta College.
The Cougars shot 55.6-percent (15-of-27) from the field in the second half to finish the night at 48.1-percent (26-of-54).
"I was really happy with them (the Cougars)," said head coach
Renee Jimenez. "I think we needed that CCAA win under our belt."

Savannah Camp each tallied season highs with 25 points. Camp completed her first double-double of the year with the addition of 10 rebounds. Sophomore
Lynette Mackey added seven points and six assists.
The Cougars led for nearly 34 minutes of the contest, trailing only in the first quarter. With a 26-24 lead at halftime, CSUSM opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run. The Cougars outscored SSU, 27-17, to take a 53-41 lead into the final quarter. CSUSM held a double-digits lead from that point on until the final 36 seconds when SSU's Katilin Stephenson made a put-back to make it 70-61. Jenkins sunk a 3-pointer for the final basket of the game to finish with a 73-61 win.
CSUSM scored 21 points off SSU's 19 turnovers in the contest. The Cougars relinquished only six points off of 11 turnovers.
Kayla Coloyan led SSU with 13 points and Madison Burroughs notched 12 points.
"I think our fans propelled us to victory tonight," Jimenez said."We got a lot of energy from their energy."
The Cougars take a break from CCAA play on Wednesday, Dec. 9 when they host PacWest Conference's Point Loma at 7:30 p.m.
