Last Meeting: In dramatic fashion, the Cougars staged a five-set come-from-behind victory (24-26, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-9) on Sept. 26 to record their first conference win in program history since joining the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) this season.
Brooke Butler led all hitters with 21 kills in addition to her 15 digs and eight blocks (two solos).
CSUEB Breakdown: The Pioneers broke up a four-game skid with a five-set victory against Cal State Monterey Bay on Nov. 6 before falling to Cal Poly Pomona the next night. CSUEB wraps up its road season on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Stanislaus State prior to facing the Cougars on Thursday, Nov. 12.

Last Meeting: The Cougars dropped a five-set heartbreaker (17-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18, 12-15) to the Gators at Hunter Gym on Sept. 25. CSUSM tallied 18.5 total blocks, setting a new program record. Freshman

SF State Breakdown: The Gators enter Friday's match tied for fifth place with Cal Poly Pomona in the CCAA standings. The top eight teams will compete in the inaugural CCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament Nov. 19-21 at UC San Diego.

Sometimes 25 Points Isn't EnoughThe Cougars have had to go to "extra points" in sets on seven occasions this season. This is not something new in their young program. CSUSM has had 56 sets go past the 25-point mark in its five years. On a positive note, the Cougars are 33-23 in those sets. The highest set score was a 42-40 victory over William Jessup on Aug. 23, 2012 that resulted in a sweep over the Warriors.

Faith Fortune is quickly climbing up the CSUSM season record books with her 80 total block and 66 block assists. With three matches remaining, Fortune ranks third in block assists and fourth in total blocks. Brittany Thompson set the record in 2012 in both categories with 94 total blocks and 72 block assists.

Andrea Leonard enters her fifth season in charge of the Cougar volleyball team, a program she has built from the ground up since arriving on campus in 2010. Entering this season, she has accumulated an 112-46 (.709) record at CSUSM that includes four Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference Tournament Championships and four trips to the NAIA National Championships.
New TerritoryAfter four seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2015 and 2016.
New ConferenceCal State San Marcos is a part of the 13-team
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), made up of 12 CSU institutions and UC San Diego. The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II leagues in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference.
