LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball program was honored as a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 season.
 
The prestigious honor signifies the third consecutive year the team has received the accolade, underscoring their consistent performance and unwavering dedication.

"I am so inspired by our scholar-athletes who are once again champions in the classroom and competitors on the court," said Head Coach Andrea Leonard. "Congratulations to our team on another well-deserved academic award earned through dedication and discipline!"
  
The award honors teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom.
 
CSUSM was announced as one of the 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball programs that earned the AVCA Team Academic Award.
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
