Senior Day on Tap for CSUSM Women's Soccer

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team hosts its final two home matches of the season this Friday and Sunday at The Cougar Den. CSUSM will face San Francisco State on Friday before celebrating Senior Day on Sunday versus Cal State Monterey Bay.

General admission tickets for this weekend are $5 and kids (12 & younger) are $3. For more ticket information, click here. As always, kids 12 & under wearing their youth team jersey will receive free entry.

Seniors to be Honored
Five seniors will be honored prior to Sunday's match – Paulina Good, Natalie Lara, Sarah Campbell, Cody Biedermann and Heather Flores. Friends and family who are going to be included in the ceremony should please arrive a half-hour before kickoff.

Snap!
CSUSM snapped a three-match losing skid with a 1-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday in Carson. Paulina Good scored her second goal of the season in the 36th minute to provide the difference in the game. The Cougars avoided their first four-match losing streak since 2007 with the victory. CSUSM has won two straight against CSUDH.

CCAA Notes
The Cougars are in ninth place in the conference standings with seven points and a 2-3-1 conference record … CSUSM has six more conference matches remaining … Allie Jara's 0.92 goals against average is the third-lowest in the conference … CSUSM's six assists in conference play are third-most in the CCAA … CSUSM has the most yellow cards in the conference (11).

SFSU Preview
All-time vs. SFSU: 1-0

Last Meeting: W, 2-1 (Oct. 10, 2008); Breanna Brenton made it 1-0 before halftime and Katelyn Krauss added an insurance goal as the Cougars prevailed in the only other meeting between the teams in San Francisco.

SFSU Breakdown: The Gators are 3-2-1 over their last three matches and are coming off of a loss and a tie to Sonoma State and Humboldt State, respectively. SFSU sits in eighth place with eight points and a 2-1-2 conference record, one slot ahead of CSUSM.

CSUMB Preview
All-time vs. CSUMB: 0-0

CSUMB Breakdown: The Otters are one of two winless teams in CCAA competition and currently sit last with zero points and an 0-5 conference mark.  Kristen Womack's five goals this season rank third in the CCAA. CSUMB has dropped three consecutive contests since their last victory on Oct. 23 vs. Fresno Pacific.

Toe-Taps
Good's goal on Sunday moved her into a tie for third on CSUSM's all-time list with 16 career goals … The game-winner also moved her into a tie for second with eight game-winning goals … Jara recorded her first collegiate shutout victory on Sunday vs. CSUDH … The team's 0.92 goals against average is the eighth-lowest in single-season team history.

The Bobby Renneisen File
CSUSM head coach Bobby Renneisen, now in his second season as the man in charge, holds an 13-5-8 (.654) career coaching record. Renneisen spent eight years from 2006-2013 as an assistant on then-head coach Ron Pulvers' coaching staff at CSUSM.

New Conference
Cal State San Marcos is in its first season competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The CCAA is made up of 12 CSU institutions and UC San Diego. The CCAA is one of the premier NCAA Division II leagues in the nation. Its teams have won more national championships (153) than any other conference. The Cougars came in tied for 12th in the 2015 CCAA Preseason Coaches Poll released Aug. 26.

New Territory
After nine seasons of competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Cougars enter their first season of NCAA Division II competition in 2015. CSUSM is currently in the second year of a three-year transition to full NCAA Division II membership. As a part of the transition, the Cougars will be ineligible for postseason play in 2015 and 2016.
