Women's Basketball Senior Night This Saturday

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team will honor five seniors for their years of service to the program prior to Saturday's game against Bethesda.

Senior Night is Here
The Cougars will recognize their five seniors prior to Saturday's game: Alex Alvarado, Cassie Damyanovich, Kimberly Kipp, Mackenzie Harnett and Heather Thompson.  Friends and family who are participating in the ceremony need to arrive by 7 p.m. to take part in the festivities!
 
Kids 12 & Under Free When Wearing Basketball Jersey
Admission to every CSUSM home game is free for youth 12 & under when wearing their youth team's jersey to the game. Accompanying parents will be admitted for a discounted rate of $5. Regular adult ticket prices are $7, while children 12 & under and seniors over 55 and older are $5.

La Sierra Preview
All-time vs. La Sierra: 4-1
Last Meeting: W, 65-56 (Nov. 8, 2014).  CSUSM collected a victory in its home opener thanks to a strong second half performance. Four Cougars registered double-digits with senior Heather Thompson leading the way with 14 points and freshman Kylie Coppi chipping in 12 points.  Senior Mackenzie Harnett was a rebound short of a double-double, tallying 11 points and nine boards. Senior Cassie Damyanovich added 11 points while classmate Alex Alvarado dished out five assists.
La Sierra Breakdown: The Lions have had a rough start in 2015, winning just one of six games. Most recently, La Sierra dropped a 63-45 decision to Cal State Maritime on Jan. 24. Fantroy is averaging a team-best 17.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Bethesda Breakdown: The Flames are on a three-game win streak that includes a 70-55 victory over Northern New Mexico on Jan. 22. 

Last Game Recap
Mackenzie Harnett registered a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Cassie Damyanovich recorded a game-high 22 with six 3-pointers and CSUSM won for the sixth time in its last eight games, 71-60, over Northern New Mexico on Saturday night at MiraCosta College.

Two More Home Games After Saturday
Although it is Senior Night on Saturday, it is not the last time the Cougars will be playing at MiraCosta College this season.  CSUSM hosts Point Loma on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at and San Diego Christian on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
 
Who We Are
CSUSM is an NAIA Division I institution which competes in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference. CSUSM was accepted into NCAA Division II Candidacy Year One and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the summer and is currently going through a three-year transition phase in order to gain full NCAA DII status for the 2017-18 season. The 2014-15 season will be the school's final year in the NAIA.
