Cassie Damyanovich recorded a game-high 22 with six 3-pointers and the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team won for the sixth time in its last eight games, 71-60, over Northern New Mexico on Saturday night at MiraCosta College.
CSUSM (7-12, 1-1 A.I.I.) nabs its first Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference win while NNMU drops to 11-11 overall and 2-2 conference action.
Heather Thompson finished a rebound shy of her seventh double-double of the season after recording 13 points and nine boards. Harnett and
Alex Alvarado each dished out five assists in the contest.
In the second half, CSUSM shot 57 percent from the field and led by as many as 19 points after three consecutive layups by Harnett. The Cougars won the battle of the boards for the 11th time this season, outrebounding the Eagles 46-33.
CSUSM will look for a series sweep on Thursday, Jan. 29 when the Cougars travel to La Sierra at 5:30 p.m. In their season opener, the Cougars earned a 65-56 win over the Golden Eagles on Nov. 8.
