OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team took a break from its regular season schedule Wednesday night to host Bristol University in an exhibition game. It took an extra five minutes, but the Cougars registered a 63-56 overtime victory over the Bears.
With 14 Cougars in action tonight, junior
Brianna Higgins led the CSUSM offense with 11 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Senior
Heather Thompson was one point shy of a double-double, finishing with nine points and 14 rebounds. She also registered four blocked shots.
The Cougars clinched the win by outscoring the Bears 14-7 in the five minute overtime period. CSUSM dominated on the boards with a season-high 52 rebounds including 20 on the offensive side.
The Cougars (6-11) are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 20 when they face No. 13 Vanguard on the road. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
