Box Score 2 LANCASTER, Calif.— The No. 5 Cal State San Marcos Softball team wrapped up its first regular season under head coach
Laurie Nevarez, putting an exclamation point on an outstanding year with a pair of victories over the University of Antelope Valley, winning 13-4 and 8-1.

CSUSM Co-Female Student-Athlete of the Year Alex Miller led the way offensively, going 6-for-8 with three doubles and a homerun, racking up 8 RBI over the two games.
The senior from San Diego helped the Cougars rally in game one after Antelope Valley hit a grand slam to take a 4-1 lead after two innings. With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the third, Miller took a 1-0 pitch and smashed it over the left field wall, giving the Cougars a lead they would not relinquish.
Ashley Dagenais closed out the game with three scoreless innings as CSUSM scored eight times in the top of the fifth for the run-rule victory. Miller finished the game with 6 RBI, the most in school history since her school record 7 RBI performance against Mayville State as a freshman in 2011.
It would be the first of two wins Friday for the freshman Dagenais (12-2, 0.96), who hurled five strong innings in game two, allowing just three hits and an unearned run, striking out seven.
That would be plenty for the Cougars, who tallied 15 hits and stole six bases while putting up 8 runs. Miller slammed three doubles in the game, giving her 71 on her career and putting her in sole possession of fourth place in the NAIA all-time record book in doubles. She needs three doubles this postseason to move into a tie for third place with Colleen Kilduff (St. Xavier, 2003-2006) with 74.
Melyssa Bellamy had a pair of hits in each game, and
Brogan Hoenisch added five RBI Friday for the Cougars.
The Cougars will have some time to rest before their opening game of the A.I.I. Tournament Thursday, May 1 in Gwinnett, Ga. CSUSM— the second seed— will play the winner of third seed and No. 19 ranked Houston-Victoria and sixth seed University of British Columbia. Full tournament details can be
