CSUSM Resumes Play with Four-game Series vs. Antelope Valley


SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 16 Cal State San Marcos baseball team takes on the University of Antelope Valley in a four-game set this weekend. It will be the first time the two Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) squads have met.

Parking and Pets
All CSUSM home games are played at CSUSM Baseball Field. Parking is free in Lot Z during all CSUSM baseball games. Other parking lots on campus will require a paid parking permit. Pets are permitted only in designated areas.

What Have They Been Up To?
The Cougars last saw game action on February 25, when they came back to take a 9-7 victory over San Diego Christian. It marked CSUSM's third win in a row since suffering  a four-game losing streak between Feb. 4 and 15. In the previous three wins, Ray Patchen is hitting .615 with four runs and three RBI. Clean-up hitter Brandon Bentson is 10-for-18 over his last five games.

University of Antelope Valley
In their second year as a program and first in the A.I.I., Antelope Valley will face the Cougars for the first time. The Pioneers have put together a 13-10 overall mark thus far; most recently, the Pioneers split a four-game set at College of Idaho on Feb. 28 and Mar. 2. Eric Vegas leads the team with a .329 batting average, 18 hits, 28 runs and seven extra-base hits.

Notes
Four players are hitting over .400 in their last five games: Patchen, Bentson, Matt Arlington and Tyler Bernard … Arlington hit his first-ever home run against San Diego Christian on Feb. 25 … Kevin Hilton has earned two of the Cougars' last three wins … Bernard is the only Cougar who has started all 14 games this season … John Swilley leads the team with 20 hits … Rich Montanez is the team's RBI leader with 11.
