THE WEEK IN REVIEW
The Cougars squared off against No. 1 ranked and defending NAIA National Champion Concordia— a daunting task on the road. CSUSM battled tight in the first game, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage and trading the lead several times before a walk-off homerun sent the Eagles to a 10-7 victory. In the second game, Concordia's bats proved to be too much in a 14-6 victory.

However, the most productive hitter of the day was CSUSM shortstop Melyssa Bellamy, who went 4-for-5 with two homeruns in the series. Bellamy is off to a torrid start offensively, leading the Cougars with a .486 batting average and six extra-base hits in 37 at-bats. The sophomore from Hesperia also leads the Cougars in runs (12) and RBI (13).

THIS WEEK'S PREVIEW
CSUSM hasn't lost to Biola since 2009, but that doesn't mean the Cougars will take the Eagles lightly. Biola is off to a 9-2 start, and has knocked off No. 13 College of Idaho 1-0 and Southern Oregon twice by the score of 9-1. Southern Oregon is the only team to knock off No. 1 Concordia this season.

The matchup is an interesting one, as the strong Eagle pitching will have to face the lights-out Cougar lineup. As a team, CSUSM is hitting .363 and averages 7.42 runs per game and 1.25 runs per inning (89 runs in 71 innings). On the other end, Biola is 5th in the NAIA in team ERA (0.89) and opponent batting average (.131) and is 1st in batters struck out (73). Junior hurler Reba DePriest is 4-0 with a 0.20 ERA to lead the Eagle staff, having allowed just eight hits and one earned run with 51 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
