REDDING, Calif. – In a triumphant farewell to 2014, the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team registered a 57-37 victory over host Simpson in its Christmas Classic Tuesday night.
The Cougars (4-10) collected their third consecutive win after shooting 50 percent in the second half. Simpson drops to 1-14.
Senior
Cassie Damyanovich led the Cougar offense by scoring a game-high 17 points while dishing out three assists. Junior
Brianna Higgins snagged her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Seniors
Mackenzie Harnett and Heather Thompson each scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.
The Cougars won the battle of the boards, 50-37.
CSUSM rings in the new year by hosting The Master's College on Saturday, Jan. 3. The women tip-off at 5 p.m. with the men following at 7:30 p.m. at MiraCosta College.
