REDDING, Calif. – A hot shooting night from the field propelled the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team to a 68-44 win over Pacific Union Monday afternoon in the Simpson Christmas Classic.
The Cougars shot a season-best 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the field while holding the Pioneers to 33.3 percent. Senior
Heather Thompson snagged her fifth double-double with a season-best 21 points in addition to 11 rebounds. She racked up three blocked shots to raise her season total to 21. Junior
Brianna Higgins collected her second double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
Cassie Damyanovich made 4-of-5 beyond the 3-point arc and finished with 14 points.
Playing with only six players, PUC was led by Amber Washington's 19 points and 10 rebounds.
CSUSM (3-10) will ring out 2014 with a match-up against host Simpson University on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
