Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The No. 1 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team looked the part in its first game as the nation's top-ranked team, steamrolling La Sierra 100-75 on Thursday night at LSU Gym.
Malcolm Lemmons went 9-of-13 from the floor, hit all three of his attempts from beyond the arc, and finished the night with a career-high 26 points. He added a team-high eight rebounds.
Jason Johnson got into the act with 13 points and a game-high nine assists, while
De'End Parker pitched in 15 points.
The Cougars improve to 21-1 overall with their 12
th win in a row. LSU drops to 4-21.
CSUSM used an 11-2 run to take a 21-point lead on Johnson's dish to
Adam Eakles for the layup with 7:00 minutes to play in the first half.  The Golden Eagles were able to cut the lead to 14, but the Cougars ended the frame on a 10-2 spurt to keep a 21-point advantage, 56-35, at the break.
Lemmons hit two of his three 3-pointers in the final 1:02 to widen the gap.
It took CSUSM less than two minutes to expand the lead to 30, as Parker and Lemmons hit back-to-back layups to make it 65-35. Â
The Cougars stretched their lead to as many as 42 in the second half on
Steele Sylte's basket with 7:11 remaining.
Backcourt reserves
Tyree Murray and
Bobby Macias had 12 and 11 points, respectively. The pair also combined for 11 rebounds, and Macias matched Parker with a game-high four steals.

CSUSM scored 27 points off 31 LSU turnovers.
Daveon Woods and Wolfgang Wood carried the load for LSU. Woods finished with 34 points while Wood added 24 points and 10 boards. No other Golden Eagle contributed more than seven points.
The Cougars have the weekend off, but return to play Monday, Feb. 3 at UC Merced. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
