SAN MARCOS, Calif.—After a busy week with three home victories, the Cal State San Marcos volleyball team will look for its fifth-straight win Saturday as they host the Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) Eagles at Escondido High School. The match begins at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free for all in attendance.

PROFESSOR APPRECIATION NIGHT
THe Cal State San Marcos volleyball team will be recognizing their professors for their hard work and committment to their students during the home match on Tuesday, October 1 against La Sierra. All fans--current students or not-- are invited to bring along a favorite professor of their own. The first 40 professors in attendance will be awarded a Cougar seat cushion out of appreciation.
WEEK PREVIEW
After playing 24 matches in a month, the Cougars had a week to rest and prepare for their competition against Embry-Riddle. The Eagles are 2-6 on the season, and have dropped their last four matches. CSUSM is 4-0 lifetime against Embry-Riddle, and has not dropped a set in any of their previous meetings. In the last contest between the teams back in 2012,
Taylor DeGraaf exploded with 18 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in a
25-22, 25-11, 25-18 win on the road.Â
DeGraaf is currently the NAIA leader in kills with 352 total over 24 matches, and ranks third in terms of kills per set (4.46). Similarly, setter
Alyssa Foster ranks third in total assists with 783. The aggressive serving duo are each ranked nationally in service aces, with Foster ranking 18
th with 33 and DeGraaf in 42
nd with 26.
Libero
Kelli McLin has been dynamite defensively in just her second week at the position. The former middle hitter has had four matches with over 21 digs in just seven games at the position, and is averaging 5.6 digs per set.

BEST OF THE BEST
Taylor DeGraaf was named the NAIA Athlete of the Week for her performances from Sept. 16-22, and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conferences across the United States and Canada. She is the first Cougar in program history to win the award.
DeGraaf averaged 5.18 kills per set, 3.73 digs per set, and hit for a .324 attack percentage in leading CSUSM to three wins last week, including a huge victory over previously undefeated and No. 9 ranked Westmont. Against the Warriors, DeGraaf recorded 21 kills and 19 digs to lead the charge. She also hit .591 with 14 kills in a sweep of UC Merced, and picked up her 11
th double-double of the season (in 24 matches) against William Jessup with 22 kills and 16 digs.
The junior from Arcadia, Calif. currently leads the NAIA in kills (352) and is third in kills per game (4.46). She also is ranked nationally in service aces (26) and digs (278).
