SAN MARCOS, Calif.— Ranked No. 2 in the NAIA and boasting 34-6 record, the Cal State San Marcos softball team will host Vanguard Tuesday in a doubleheader for their final home games of the year. The Cougars will also have a special senior day celebration in between games one and two to honor Vangaurd's seniors and CSUSM's lone senior
Cortney Allen.
Over the weekend, the Cougars will travel to Atherton, Calif for a doubleheader Friday against Menlo College and have a day off Saturday before taking on Simpson University Sunday in Redding, Calif. The Cougars will wrap up the regular season Monday by taking on William Jessup in a doubleheader in Rocklin, Calif.
CSUSM will be the No. 1 seed in the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) tournament May 1-3 in Houston, Tex. The Cougars are defending A.I.I. champions and have made two consecutive final four appearances in the NAIA Final Four.

CSUSM comes into the final homestretch of the season coming off their biggest win of the season, a
15-0 rout over Hope International to clinch Coach Dave Williams' 700
th career victory.
The Cougars will wrap up home play against Vanguard, who the Cougars split a two game series with
1-0 and
0-3 earlier this season at the CSUSM Softball Field. CSUSM is 15-9 overall against the Lions and have won 11 of their last 12.
In the first day of their northern California road trip, the Cougars will face the Menlo Oaks for the first time this season. In its seven year history, CSUSM has never faced Menlo.
On Sunday, the Cougars face a tough foe in Simpson, who they beat
2-0 and
4-0 in San Marcos back in March. CSUSM has a career 9-2 record against the Red Hawks.
In their final regular season games of 2013, the Cougars face William Jessup. CSUSM knocked off the Warriors
2-0 earlier this season at a neutral site in La Mirada, and are 5-0 against them all-time.
