CSUSM Meteorology
With more than a 50-percent chance of rain on Thursday night and Friday during the day (according to weather.com), there remains the possibility that there may be schedule changes prior to Saturday's doubleheader with Sioux Falls. As of Wednesday afternoon, all games are to be played as scheduled. However, plans may change heading into the weekend, depending on what the clouds decide on Thursday and Friday. Raining Hits in San Marcos
The Cougars combined for 27 hits and 22 runs in Monday's doubleheader against Ashford. CSUSM tagged the Saints for 12 hits in an 8-0 win in game one before tallying 15 in a 14-2, seven-inning game-two victory. It was the most hits for the Cougars since April 28, 2012, when CSUSM racked up 18 hits against Arizona Christian. Kody Sepulveda went 4-for-7 with three RBI, while Kyle Secciani and Kenny Belzer went 4-for-9 with four RBI apiece.

Dyks Strikes
Senior ace James Dykstra improved to 4-0 this season on Monday afternoon, hurling a complete-game, three-hit shutout in game one. He struck out 11 batters for the second time this season and for the third time in his career; he tallied 11 in his last appearance against Biola on Feb. 19, another complete-game victory. He holds the single-game school record for strikeouts in a single game with 12 against Fresno Pacific on April 21, 2012. Monday's complete game gave him five for his career, which is a school record.

Wait A Secc…
Senior centerfielder Kyle Secciani's run in the third inning of game one on Monday against AU broke the school record for career runs. He now holds the record with 141 runs after adding four on Monday, four more than Austin Coleman's (2008-12) 137. Secciani has scored in 11 of the team's first 13 games this season. He's also 25th in the nation with nine total stolen bases.

Sepulveda Boulevard
CSUSM's everyday catcher Kody Sepulveda has been on fire of late, hitting .471 over the team's last five games while leading the team in hits (8), homeruns (2), RBI (7) and total bases (16). He's slugging .941 within the last five and has recorded multiple hits in each of his last three games. Sepulveda is riding a team-best eight-game hitting streak.

Sioux-sie Q
Sioux Falls, an NCAA Division II institution also nicknamed the Cougars, enters this weekend's three-game set 3-5 overall and 2-2 over its last four games. Keith Cutler leads the Cougars with a .455 batting average and Corey Vasquez is batting .375. CSUSM defeated Sioux Falls 15-5 last season on March 20, 2012 and is 7-2 all-time against the Cougars.

Foul Tips
Tyler Bernard's walk-off single against La Sierra on Feb. 24 can be viewed here … Bernard has recorded a hit in each of his last seven games … CSUSM's 14 runs against Ashford were the most since the Cougars put up 17 on La Sierra on April 22, 2012 … The Cougars are now 4-1 in Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) competition … CSUSM ranks first in NAIA Division I in opponents batting average (.164) and ERA (1.32).
