PRIMM, Nev. – The No. 3 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team came from seven strokes back to win the Battle at Primm on Tuesday at Primm Valley Golf Club.

The Cougars closed the event with a 22-over-par 310 to finish the eight-team tournament at 42-over-par 618 (308-310), one stroke ahead of No. 13 Wayland Baptist (Texas) (+43, 301-318-619) and four lower than defending national champion No. 5 British Columbia (+46, 305-317-622).

CSUSM has now won five tournaments during the 2012-13 season, including three this spring. After winning the Embry-Riddle Coed Tournament (Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2012) and the CSUSM Fall Invite (Oct. 15-16, 2012) in the fall, CSUSM has taken home the crown in the Super San Diego Point Loma (Feb. 11-12, 2013), the Lady Cougar Invitational (Mar. 11-12, 2013) and now the Battle at Primm.

Head coach Cindy Naval's team has now won three of the five tournaments it has competed in during the spring campaign.

The Cougars were paced by freshman Stacey Rayo's final-round of 4-over-par 76. Senior Felicia Titus carded a 5-over-77 while freshman Alyssa Waite posted 6-over-par 78. Sophomore Vanessa Chap rounded out the scoring with a 7-over-par 79.

CSUSM was the only team in the final round to have its top four players shoot 79 or lower.

Chap (74-79) and Titus tied for fifth in the individual standings at 9-over-par 153 for the two rounds, while Waite (78-78) and Rayo (80-76) tied for 10th at 12-over-par 156.

Junior Lisa Copeland finished with a 9-over-par round of 81 to finish 35th at 179 (+35). Senior Leinati Leniu competed as an individual for the Cougars and tied for 33rd at 32-over-par 176.
