Weekend Preview
CSUSM kicks off the homestand with a doubleheader against Simpson (21-11), who is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll. The teams have not met yet in 2013, but the Cougars went 5-1 against Simpson last year and are 7-2 against the Red Hawks all-time.

On Wednesday, the Cougars will have guests from afar, as Columbia College will head west from Missouri to San Marcos. The similarly named Cougars are 5-4 this season and are also receiving votes on the NAIA Coaches' Poll. The teams have met twice before in 2012, with each team winning once.

Wrapping up play in the month of March for CSUSM is a doubleheader against Hope International (19-11), who the Cougars beat 5-0 at home earlier this month. The teams have a long standing history, playing 28 games over the last seven seasons, with CSUSM winning 23 of the matchups (.821 winning percentage) and all of the last 11 meetings.

Coaching Duel
CSUSM coach Dave Williams entered 2013 as the fifth winningest active head coach in the NAIA, just seven wins behind Wendy Spratt of Columbia College. Since then, Williams the No. 2 ranked Cougars have surpassed Spratt by winning 26 of their first 30 games, giving Williams 692 wins to Spratt's 678.

The Cougars will look to help Williams add to his lead Wednesday as the two legendary coaches face off twice in a doubleheader and as they race to be the fourth active coach with 700 wins. Williams, with a career record of 692-208 in his 16 seasons at both Point Loma and CSUSM, is second in all-time coaching winning percentage at .771.
