Game 1: CSUSM 8 – Biola 0
Cal State San Marcos wasted no time bringing runs across Saturday as shortstop
Sarah Quiambao (2-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI) brought home two runs with a single to left center in the first. These runs would have been all the pitching strong Cougars needed, as All-American
Cortney Allen shut down the Eagles for her third straight complete game shutout.
Allen went seven innings and struck out five, allowing just five hits and didn't issue a walk for the third straight game. She improved to 6-1 on the season, and lowered her ERA to 1.48 on the season.
Offensively,
Alex Miller went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI.
Patricia Banda continued her hot hitting in 2013, going 3-for-5 with a run, a RBI, and a stolen base.
Game 2: CSUSM 4 – Biola 2
Biola took an early lead with three hits in the second inning, taking a 1-0 advantage into the top of the fourth when the Cougars evened the score on a fielding error.
The Cougars took control in the fifth by adding three more runs— one off the bat of
Brogan Hoenisch with a sacrifice fly and the other two courtesy of
Olivia Lucatuorto's two RBI single. Lucatuorto went 2-for-2 with a walk, and now has 10 RBI in her last seven games and a team best 16 RBI on the season.
Jourdan Lamoureux (4-1, 1.28 ERA) earned the victory with 4.2 innings of two hit softball, allowing just one run.
Cortney Allen picked up her first save of the year by recording the final out with the tying run at the plate, inducing a groundout back to the pitching circle.
CSUSM will get a few days off before heading out to Phoenix Arizona for back-to-back doubleheaders with Arizona Christian February 22
