Final Results
SAN DIEGO – The No. 7 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team posted the lowest team score of the day to secure PLNU Super San Diego Championship tournament title on Tuesday afternoon at Riverwalk Golf Course.
Trailing Grand Canyon and Sonoma State by a stroke after Monday's first round, the Cougars shot 22-over 310 to finish six strokes ahead of GCU and nine ahead of SSU. CSUSM finished with a two-day total of 50-over 626.
Lisa Copeland and
Alyssa Waite each shot 75 (+3) while
Stacey Rayo tallied 79 (+7).
Vanessa Chap and
Felicia Titus both shot 81 (+9).
Waite finished eighth overall in the individual standings after going 79-75 (+10). Copeland (80-75) and Rayo (76-79) were tied for ninth at 11-over (155).
Megan Woodland of the University of Victoria took home individualist medalist honors at 5-over (149) over the two rounds.
The Super San Diego Championships marks the third tournament the Cougars have won during the 2012-13 season. It was the first competition of the spring season for CSUSM.
