CSUSM-Concordia Preview
CSUSM beat CUI 78-57 on Dec. 18 at MiraCosta College in the last meeting between the teams. Four players finished in double figures, led by Heather Thompson's 19 points and 15 rebounds. It marked CSUSM's fifth-straight win, the longest in program history. CSUSM led by four at the half before using a 14-0 stretch over a 3:15 span early in the second frame to open up the game. Concordia shot just 27.3 percent from the field.

It Was the Best of Times, It Was the Worst of Times
CSUSM's win over CUI on Dec. 18 served as the high point of the campaign for the Cougars, as the victory pulled CSUSM to 8-9 overall on the season. However, CSUSM has dropped eight of nine since then, its lone win coming in the form of a 76-73 decision over Simpson on Jan. 3. CSUSM has the fourth-most wins in the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) behind Robert Morris' (Ill.) 16, while Voorhees and West Virginia Tech each have 10.
