Box Score SAN DIEGO – Nanice Kollee scored a career-high 11 points off the bench in the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team's 55-41 loss at Point Loma Nazarene on Wednesday night at Golden Gymnasium.
The Cougars drop to 9-16 overall on the year while the Sea Lions improve to 5-8, snapping a three-game losing streak in the process.
PLNU started the game on a 7-0 run, but CSUSM rallied to take a 10-9 lead on
Cassie Damyanovich's 3-pointer at the 7:41 mark. After the Sea Lions opened a five point lead,
Alexandria Alvarado and
Sarah Jackson hit jumpers on back-to-back possessions to bring CSUSM within one at the 3:50 mark.
However, PLNU ended the half on an 8-1 run before opening the second frame with an 8-0 stretch to take a 33-17 lead with 17 minutes left. The Cougars were unable to edge within double digits the rest of the way.
Thompson pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, one shy of the CSUSM school record. Kollee went 4-of-6 from the field, including 2-of-2 from behind the arc.
The Cougar bench outscored PLNU's, 31-14.
The Sea Lions and Cougars will face off again on Jan. 23 at MiraCosta. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
