FRESNO, Calif. –The No. 12 Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three games after a 3-0 trouncing of Fresno Pacific on Saturday evening at Ramirez Field.
Kelsey Gunion,
Dani Porter and
Paulina Good each scored their first career goals as the Cougars outshot the Sunbirds 21-3 on the day. CSUSM improves to 3-1 on the year while FPU drops to 0-2-1.
Gunion, a senior midfielder from Santee making her first start, handed CSUSM a 1-0 lead in the 19
th minute off an assist from
Kaleigh Dodson. Porter extended the lead in the 76
th minute, finishing on a breakaway created on a dish from
Natalie Lara. Good, a freshman, put a cap on the evening, scoring less than five minutes from full-time.
The Cougars' back-to-back-to-back victories mark the sixth time in program history in which CSUSM has won at least three games in a row.
CSUSM earned six corner kicks compared to zero for FPU.
The CSUSM women's soccer team will play the second game of the
CSUSM Athletics Fall Kickoff on Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Biola at 5:00 p.m. The men's soccer team gets the festivities started at 3:00 p.m. against The Master's College, while the CSUSM women's volleyball team opens its home schedule at 7:00 p.m. against Concordia (Calif.).
