Distance runner Cara Rumble and soccer player Troy Skomra are the newest members selected into the Cal State San Marcos Hall of Fame, becoming the first former Cougar athletes the receive such recognition. Rumble and Skomra are the only two inductees from the 2012 class—the second one ever— and will join founder of CSUSM Athletics Debbie Dale and longtime supporters Bob and Ruth Mangrum in the Hall. Each of this year's candidates excelled academically and on the athletic fields during their time at San Marcos.
Cara Rumble was the first individual National Champion in school history, winning the Marathon in the 2004 NAIA Track and Field Championships. Her time of 2:49:30 is still the school record, and was only :30 seconds off the NAIA National Record at the time, and only 1:30 off the Olympic Qualifying mark. Rumble was also in All-American in Cross Country, finishing 25
th overall in 2000 and 5
th in 2003— the highest ever finish for a CSUSM athlete. Cara also had a 3.5 GPA while at Cal State San Marcos, and is currently a nurse working at Pomerado Hospital in Poway.
Troy Skomra was the first recruit to sign with the CSUSM Men's Soccer program when it debuted in 2006, and served as team captain in both 2009 and 2010. Troy graduated Magna Cum Laude with an overall GPA of 3.86 in Business Administration, and was awarded the the Federated Insurance Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2009-2010. Athletically, Skomra received second team All-Conference honors in 2009, and lead the team to their first AII Conference Championship Game. Troy currently works in public accounting as an assurance associate with Moss Adams LLP.

th at the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athlete Awards Banquet inside the Clarke Fieldhouse.
