The #2 ranked Cal State San Marcos Softball team racked up their 20
th and 21
st victories of the season in convincing fashion, defeating Concordia-Chicago 11-1 Thursday morning and William Jessup 6-0 in the evening. Freshman catcher
Caitlin Monnahan went 5-for-7 on the day, and senior first baseman
Alyssa Dronenburg went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI's and 4 runs scored, hitting her team leading 7
th homerun on the season.
Game 1 (CSUSM 11- Concordia-Chicaco 1)

The Cougars, batting as the visiting team, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first without at hit after
Alicia Ingram reached on an error, stole a base, and scored on an
Alyssa Dronenburg sacrifice fly. San Marcos would add another in the second on a
Kimberle Smith RBI single to make it 2-0.
Concordia would get one back in the bottom half of the inning when first baseman Clarissa Gieseke hit a homerun that just cleared the center field fence to pull within a run. That was all CSUSM starting pitcher
Cortney Allen would allow for the day though, pitching a complete came and allowing just 4 hits.
Theresa Houle hit an RBI double for San Marcos to stretch the lead to 3-1, and the score would stay there until the Cougars exploded for three more runs in the 5
tthinning and five in the 6

Caitlin Monnahan knocked a double and a single for a combined 3 RBI's in the scoring frenzy, and finished the day 3-4 at the plate.
Cortney Allen struck out two in the final inning to finish the game with a season high 9 strikeouts and move to 6-2 on the year.
Game 2 (CSUSM 6 – Hope International 0)

Freshman pitchers
Katie Wilkinson and
Jourdan Lamoureux combined to shutout Hope International, allowing just 4 hits total. Wilkinson picked up her team leading 7
th win of the season, pitching 5 innings and striking out 6. Lamoureux finished the final two innings giving up just one hit while striking out 3.
Offensively, the Cougars displayed their thunderous bats once again, knocking 12 hits in the game, including
Alyssa Dronenburg's 7
th home run of the season. She is currently averaging a home run every 9 at-bats, and is getting on base over 57% of the time.
Shortstop Sarah Quimbao had a perfect game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a hit by pitch, and drove in 3 runs.
The Cougars (21-2) will put their win streak to the test Friday against William Jessup (12-6) at 9 AM, followed immediately by a game against Felician College (NJ) at 11:00 AM.
