The #2 ranked Cal State San Marcos Softball team once again looked the part of the best team in the NAIA Thursday, shutting out Hope International in back-to-back games at the CSUSM Softball Field. The Cougars have shut out the visiting Royals, who were 22-16 entering the day, for the 5
th time in five meetings this season.

Cortney Allen completely shut down the Royals, allowing just 3 singles over 5 innings of work, picking up her 11
th win of the year. The win was also Allen's 9
th complete game of the season.
Offensively, 7 different Cougars each knocked in a run, and
Alyssa Dronenburg reached base in all of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a walk. Dronenburg has gotten on base 61.2% of the time this season.
Kaitlin McGinley and
Caitlin Monnahan each went 2-for-3 with a double.

Katie Wilkinson, coming off a no-hitter against #13 St. Gregory's (OK), was in excellent form once again, allowing just two hits over 5 scoreless innings.
Jourdan Lamoureux and
Kimberle Smith each added a scoreless inning for the Cougars as they lowered their team ERA down to 1.05. CSUSM has now shut out their opponent 16 times in 37 games this season.
Theresa Houle went 3-for-3 at the plate, and
Alyssa Dronenburg doubled and hit her 11
th home run of the year.
Kaitlin McGinley notched her third stolen base of the day, putting her atop the NAIA leaderboard in that category.
The Cougars (34-3) play next Tuesday, April 3
rd at Biola in a makeup game for a doubleheader originally scheduled in March.
