The Cal State San Marcos Baseball team piled up 10 runs in defeating La Sierra 10-7 Tuesday afternoon at the CSUSM Baseball Field. Center fielder Kyle Secciani ignited the offense, going 3-for-5 with a triple and a double off the very top of the wall in center, and shortstop Jeremy Baum also ripped a triple and a double and racked up 3 RBIs.

The Cougars scored three runs in the second inning for starting pitcher Scott Myers, and the Cougars never trailed in the game. Myers was excellent, throwing 4 innings of shutout baseball and allowing just three hits as he improved his record to 2-2 on the season.

Geoff Landry provided 2 solid innings of scoreless relief to help bridge the gap to the late innings, striking out three La Sierra batters. CSUSM led 5-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, before scoring 5 runs to solidify the victory.

Richard Martin earned his 1st save of the season by ending a La Sierra comeback attempt in the ninth by throwing out a Golden Eagle stealing third to end the game.

The Cougars (11-10) play again Thursday at home as they host Biola in a doubleheader starting at noon.
