Game 1 (CSUSM 8 – La Sierra 0) * 5 innings

Box Score

Starting pitcher Jourdan Lamoureux stifled the visiting Golden Eagles, giving up just a single to center field in the second inning in what would have otherwise been a perfect game. Lamoureux struck out 5 batters in advancing to 4-0 on the season.

Offensively, all 9 starters recorded a hit and either a run or RBI as the Cougars continued their hot ways at the plate. Second Baseman Olivia Lucatuorto ripped her second homerun of the season to lead off the 4th inning, and third baseman Theresa Houle slammed her team leading 9th home run to left field in the 5th.

Freshman shortstop Jessica Guillen ended the game in the 5th inning by beating out an infield single to bring home Caitlin Monnahan to give the Cougars an 8-run advantage. Alicia Ingram overtook teammate Kaitlin McGinley as the NAIA leader in stolen bases by stealing two bags in the game.

Game 2 (CSUSM 5 - Greensboro 0)

Box Score

The Cougars sent Cortney Allen to the mound for the final game of the tournament, and she was dominant once again, allowing just two hits over 7 innings, and extending her scoreless inning streak to 27. Allen struck out three Pride batters, and never allowed a runner past 1st base.

After a few scoreless innings, CSUSM got on the board in the 4th with 2-run blast by Theresa Houle to bring home Alex Miller, who tripled on the previous pitch. Houle leads the team with 10 homeruns, and ranks 4th in the NAIA. Second baseman Olivia Lucatuorto followed Houle with a home run of her own, her second of the day and third of the season to make the score 3-0.

San Marcos added two more runs in the 5th inning on a 2-RBI double by Alex Miller that brought home Kaitlin McGinley and pinch runner Rachel Jimenez. McGinley had two stolen bases in the game and reclaimed the NAIA stolen base lead from teammate Alicia Ingram.

The Cougars will play next at Biola Saturday March 17th for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm.
