CSUSM Baseball started the season nicely with a big win Friday against Menlo College. The Cougars received big games from center fielder Kyle Secciani and designated hitter Mike Meccuci who each had 2 RBIs. Meccuci and left fielder Anthony both  went 3-4 on the day leading the Cougars in hits.

San Marcos also received an excellent starting performance from right handed pitcher Frank Charlton, who pitched his first game for the Cougars. Charlton threw 5 innings and allowed just one run on 3 hits and struck out 4 in his debut. Reliever Shawn Sanford had two innings of no-hit relief and closer Kevin Hilton pitched 1 and a third innings for the save.

The Cougars are now 1-0 with the victory, and will face Menlo College again Saturday for a double header. The first game begins at 11 AM at the CSUSM Baseball Field.
