Box Score OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The No. 9 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell to defending national champion Concordia (Calif.) 84-79 on Saturday night at MiraCosta College.
Tim Harris hit consecutive 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to hand Concordia (6-3) a three-point lead with 1:10 left, and the Eagles held on defense before hitting four free throws in the final 27 seconds to seal the victory.
CSUSM is now 0-3 all-time against its Southern California rival and stands at 8-4 overall on the year.
Quincy Lawson registered a team-high 18 points and pulled down eight boards in the loss, while
Danny Redmon tallied 14 points and a game-high five assists.

Hakeem Washington all finished in double figures with 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Harris led all scorers with 19, nailing 4-of-5 3-pointers on the night. Peter Smith finished with 17 while Dakota Downs and Brandon Hucks recorded 14 points apiece.
In a game that saw 22 lead changes and 14 ties, the Cougars trailed by as much as six in the first half before coming back to tie it at the break. Nolan Abernathy hit a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left, but
Jose Rivera swished a half court try at the buzzer to make it 43-43.
The teams traded baskets to start the second frame before an
Adam Eakles layup and a fast break deuce from Washington made it 55-51 CSUSM at the 13:16 mark. Lawson extended the Cougar lead to six with an easy basket off a dish from Redmon before Washington hit a pair of free shots to give CSUSM its biggest lead of the game, 75-68, with 5:48 left.
The Eagles got within three with a 7-2 run over the next 3:10 and pulled even when Harris nailed a three from the right side to make it 77-77 with 2:07 left. Redmon missed a runner in the lane and Harris answered with a long three with a hand in the face to put Concordia up by three with 70 seconds left.
Redmon answered with a contested layup to make it 80-79 and CSUSM forced a turnover to give itself a possession to retake the lead.
Out of a 30-second timeout, Redmon attempted to find Rivera on a back cut, but Jywrell Wilson stepped into the passing lane to force a steal. He was only able to hit one of his free throws to give the Eagles an 81-79 lead with 27 ticks remaining.
Redmon made a good move to get into the lane, but his runner glanced off the rim and was rebounded by Hucks. Hucks was fouled immediately and proceeded to hit both free throws to hand Concordia a four-point lead.
Eakles' layup with eight seconds remaining missed, and Smith hit 1-of-2 from the line to give the Eagles their final 84-79 advantage.
CSUSM will take Finals Week off before hosting the CSUSM Holiday Classic on Dec. 18-19 at MiraCosta College. The Cougars will take on Trinity Western on the 18th before hosting Westmont on the 19th. Lethbridge and Hope University will also take part in the Holiday Classic.
