LAS VEGAS - Ali Langford scored 22 points as the No. 20 Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team upset No. 2 Oklahoma Baptist 75-65 on Friday night at the Las Vegas Invitational hosted by Concordia (Calif.).
CSUSM (6-3) rebounded from consecutive losses to hand 2012 national runner-up OBU (8-1) its first loss ahead of Tuesday's release of the first NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Bison would have likely been ranked No. 1 when the new rankings come out, considering that current No. 1 Concordia (Calif.) already has two losses.
Langford added five rebounds and was joined by three other Cougars in double digits.
Quincy Lawson tallied 14,
Danny Redmon pitched in with 12 and
Jose Rivera registered 12 on 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Redmon had a team-high five assists, as well.
CSUSM has beaten the No. 2-ranked team three times in the Cougars' short history. CSUSM downed then-No. 2's Mountain State (W.Va.) and Robert Morris (Ill.) last season.
So far this season, the Cougars are 3-1 against Top 25 teams.
CSUSM faces Bethesda tomorrow evening.
