What's On Deck
CSUSM faces Oklahoma Baptist and Bethesda on consecutive days this weekend, marking the first time the Cougars have played either squad. No. 2 OBU is currently 8-0 overall and has won its games by an average of 27.9 points. The Bison were NAIA national runners-up a year ago after falling to Concordia (Calif.) in the national championship game. Oklahoma Baptist is a two-time national champion. The Bison last won the title in 2010.
When The Tough Get Goin'
Having already played three ranked teams so far in 2012, the Cougars' schedule doesn't get any easier the next two weeks. After playing second-ranked OBU and Bethesda, CSUSM travels to play NCAA Division I powerhouse UCLA in an exhibition before hosting NCAA Division II's Point Loma Nazarene. The Cougars will face current No. 1, Concordia (Calif.), on Dec. 8 before Finals Week.
UCLA Brewin'
The Cougars will head to Westwood next Tuesday, Dec. 4 to face 11-time national champion UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. The venue, which originally opened in 1965, went through a 33-month, $136 million renovation and is one of the nation's premier collegiate facilities. UCLA opened the preseason at No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25, but recently fell out of the poll after losses to Georgetown and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
