SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's golf team won the CSUSM Fall Coed Invitational by 55 strokes on Tuesday at Twin Oaks Golf Course. The Cougars shot 624 (+48) and all five Cougars finished in the individual top-10.
Alyssa Waite recorded the low round on the day with a 1-over 73. She tied for the individual title with Biola's Ava Lourenco at 6-over 150; however, Lourenco won the crown due to a better score on her second-round back nine.
“I just think this is an awesome group of girls. They're all having a great time together. When you have a special group that hangs out and all [of them] want to do well for each other, it makes a big difference. I'm proud of how these girls are stepping up and playing well,” said CSUSM head coach Cindy Naval.
Stacey Rayo carded a 78 in the final round to finish fourth overall.
Lisa Copeland,
Felicia Titus, and
Vanessa Chap finished with 79's.
Chap (155, +11) and Rayo (156, +12) were third and fourth overall, respectively, while Copeland (163, +19) and Titus (168, +24) finished eighth and ninth.
The tournament victory is the second in a row for the Cougars. CSUSM took home the Embry-Riddle Coed Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
