Track & Field Competes at Point Loma

Rosario wins the 400, meets "A" standard for 100m hurdles

 With the team's distance runners competing at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday, CSUSM track & field's sprinters and field athletes were at Point Loma on Saturday, competing in the Point Loma Invitational.

Amber Rosario won the 400-meter dash, and in the process met the “B” qualifying standard for NAIA Nationals with her time of 57.18 seconds.  Rosario wasn't done though, meeting the “A” standard in the 100-meter hurdles.  Her time of 14.81 seconds was good for second place.

It was Rosario's first meet since the NAIA Indoor National Championships, where she represented CSUSM in the 4x400-meter relay and 60-meter hurdles.

Lucia Asbury, who also competed at the Indoor Championships, placed second in the 800-meter run on Saturday at 2:18.14. 

Krystle Osby placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.38 seconds.  Aimee Rassavong was 7th in the event at 12.50 seconds.

Tiffany West took seventh in the 200-meter dash at 25.95 seconds.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Rosario, Asbury, Ruth Spitsbergen, and Brianna Gibas placed third with a time of 3:58.45 seconds.

In the field, Yachi Fails headlined the squad, winning the long jump and meeting the “B” standard qualifying mark in the process with her distance of 5.53 meters.  Fails also took second in the triple jump at 11.04 meters.  Calah Ayer won the pole vault with a height of 3.25 meters.  Marissa Daly placed second in the high jump, clearing 1.57 meters.  Her sister Meredith placed third in the triple jump at 10.21 meters.  Alison Ogilvie took third in the shot put at 10.17 meters, and second in the hammer throw at 34.62 meters.  Finally, Kelly Skvarna finished third in the heptathlon with 4064 points.

On the men's side, Rolland Slade placed second in the 100-meter (11.18 seconds) and third in the 200-meter (22.93 seconds).  Dylan Kirchberg finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 49.93 meters.  Steven Snodgrass, Bryan TenBosch, and Kirchberg all competed in the decathlon, finishing 4th, 5th, and 6th, respectively.
