Indoor Track & Field Opens Season

Campfield Wins 1 Mile Run

Coach Steve Scott's women's & men's indoor track & field got their spring season started on Saturday, competing at the Northern Arizona Invitational and Cerritos College “All Comers” Meet.

Two-time All-American Brett Campfield highlighted the day, winning the 1 mile run with a time of 4:22.  That time meets the "B" qualification standard for the Indoor National Championships.

The Cougars had plenty of other strong finishes to start their season.  In the 60-meter dash, Krystle Osby and Aimee Rassavong finished 4th and 5th in the finals, running 7.97 and 8.04 seconds, respectively.

Lucia Asbury took 6th in the 800-meter run, coming in at 2:25 in the finals.

Amber Rosario placed 8th in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.23 seconds, good for the "B" standard in that event.

In the field, Katarina Payne took 3rd in the triple jump at 10.49 meters.

On the men's side, Nicholas Henderson ran 7.04 in the finals of the 60-meter dash to place 5th.

In addition to his mile victory, Campfield took 8th in the 800-meter run at 1:59.

Daniel Lyon and Armando Lara finished 2nd and 3rd in the 3,000-meter run, running 9:43 and 9:46, respectively.

Bryan TenBosch placed 7th in the high jump, clearing 5.87 meters.

As a team, the Cougar women took 8th place with 14 points, while the men placed 5th with 36.

Cerritos College results will be posted when they are available.
